About 250,000 people marched for jobs and freedom to the Lincoln Memorial, where Martin Luther King Jr. gave his 'I Have a Dream' speech. Organised by A. Philip Randolph and Bayard Rustin, it was one of the largest political rallies in US history to that date and built support for the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
